Notre Dame student manager Declan Sullivan died after a hydraulic lift similiar to the one above collapsed while he was filming the Fighting Irish practice.

Notre Dame team manager dies after falling from hydraulic lift

Only eight months after the Seeberg tragedy. Notre Dame student manager Declan Sullivan died when he fell off a hydraulic lift on a windy day in South Bend.

Former Notre Dame assistant video coordinator Reuel Joaquin told the Occupational Health and Safety Administration that Sullivan was not happy about the practice being held outside.

Sullivan sent out a series of tweets beginning at 3:22PM potentially foreshadowing what was coming.

"“Gust of wind up to 60mph well today will be fun at work… I guess I’ve lived long enough…4.06pm, read: ‘Holy f*** holy f*** this is terrifying..”"

Just 44 minutes after his final tweet, Sullivan was prophetic.

In the irony of all ironies in relation to Notre Dame’s history on sexual assaults, Joaquin told the OHSA investigators that Notre Dame decided not to put a female manager on the lift to film”

"“So we would not scare her.”"

Notre Dame’s hypocrisy is convenient.

Per ESPN report in March 2011:

"“The details were released as IOSHA fined Notre Dame $77,500 for six safety violations tied to Sullivan’s death, including knowingly putting its employees in an unsafe situation. The junior from Long Grove, Ill., was killed when the hydraulic lift toppled in gusts of up to 53 mph while he was filming football practice.”"
