Richt’s son Jon is Miami’s quarterback coach. The Hurricanes would not be where they are without the development of Malik Rosier. His all-around game suits the offense the Richt’s like to run. Mark Richt discussed what it’s like working with his son.

"“I love it. Jon is awesome. He’s a fun guy to work with. He’s really a good coach. And it’s good to have somebody to know someone that knows you well enough to say, ‘Hey, dad.’ Well, he calls me ‘Pops,’ ‘Hey Pops. We should do this or we should do that.’ An assistant coach who’s not your son might not feel as free to question you. He keeps me straight. I’m sure the other coaches are like, ‘Hey, Jon, say this to your dad.’ After the game, it was nice to have him on the sideline and be able to celebrate with him.”"

The Miami rivalry with Virginia has gone in streaks. After losing four of the previous five games to the Cavaliers, Miami has captured the last two meetings. Mark Richt discussed how the Cavaliers have had the Hurricanes number at times.
