The prevailing theory with Oklahoma and Clemson is that they have more quality wins this season than Miami. Is that accurate though? Clemson’s only wins over top 25 teams are over number six, two-loss Auburn and 24th ranked Virginia Tech.

The Miami Hurricanes have similar wins to Dabo Swinney’s team. Miami defeated number nine Notre Dame and they also have a win over the Hokies. Miami defeated both teams at home, while Clemson’s win over VaTech came in Blacksburg.

Oklahoma’s loss to Iowa State didn’t seem as bad earlier in the season. The Cyclones also have a home win over TCU. Iowa State has since lost to 6-5, Texas, Oklahoma State and West Virginia. Only the game against the Mountaineers was on the road.

Oklahoma has three wins against top 25 teams. They defeated Ohio State, Oklahoma State and TCU. Barring a huge upset by the Horned Frogs to Baylor Saturday, TCU and the Sooners will play again in the Big XII championship game.

A TCU win would likely eliminate the Sooners. Would that elevate the Horned Frogs though? TCU and OU would both have losses to Iowa State and each other.

There are quite a few scenarios that could throw the playoff into chaos. If Miami, Wisconsin and Alabama lose once, especially in their conference title games, there would be a gluttony of one-loss teams.
