Homer had his worst output of the season against Pittsburgh. The Sophomore finished with seven carries for 12 yards. If Miami doesn’t get the running game going they could be in trouble in their final two to three games this season.

Rosier frequently missed open receivers. Some of that blame could fall on the play calling. Miami has often relied on the big play in both the running and passing games this season. The Hurricanes have two of the top six players in yards per catch in the ACC.

Jeff Thomas leads the ACC with 21.9 yards per catch and Ahmmon Richards is sixth at 18.3 yards per catch. Darrell Langham would be fourth in the conference at 19 yards per reception if he had enough to qualify. He has 11 receptions on the season.

Richt has often said he is patient with his offense because he knows they can hit a big play at any time. They might be relying too much on that to happen. Miami has 70 plays this season of 15 or more yards and 32 of 25 or more yards.

Late in the tight games, particularly the game-winning drives against Georgia Tech and Syracuse Rosier took advantage of what the defenses gave him. A shorter passing game would likely make it easier for Rosier to be more accurate. It would also take more pressure off the running game. Miami could then take more shots deep.
