According to Rosier via ESPN Richt has fostered more of a team, than a me atmosphere in his two seasons at the helm.

"“The difference the year we played Clemson and now is just a mindset. This team is ready to go…(a) couple years ago, more people were worried about going to the NFL, more worried about themselves, how they performed, instead of the team. This team has bought into the process. I think that’s the biggest difference between back then and now. Yeah, people want to go into the league, but at the same time we’re worried about getting a ring more than we are about our NFL draft stock.”"

Richt has restored the fun and swagger to Miami. The Hurricanes are expected to play a certain way. Golden’s Defensive Coordinator Mark D’Onofrio used a read and react style of defense. The Miami defense was abysmal in D’Onofrio’s final season. Miami ranked 75th or lower nationally in the major categories.

Richt’s hiring of Miami native Manny Diaz and son of former Miami mayor Manny Diaz Sr. reinstalled the aggressive, attacking defense that Hurricanes fans expect from the glory years.

The Hurricanes have finished the last two seasons in the top 15 nationally in scoring defense. This season Miami leads the nation in turnover margin and sacks and is second in tackles for loss. Diaz’s creation of the turnover chain has become a national sensation.

It looks like the players and fans are not the only ones having fun. Richt seems to be having the most fun he has had in years. One more win and he will lead them to the College Football Playoff.
