Virginia at Navy, Military Bowl, Annapolis, Maryland, December 28, 1:30 ET, ESPN

Virginia challenged Miami on Senior day at Hard Rock Stadium. The Hurricanes had to twice overcome 14 point deficits before outscoring the Cavaliers 30-0 in the second half. Miami won 44-28.

Virginia quarterback Kirk Benkert burned the Miami Hurricanes for four first-half touchdowns. Benkert threw for 3,062 yards, 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season.

Olamide Zaccheaus is Benkert’s top target. He has 80 receptions for 833 yards and five touchdowns. Nine different Cavalier receivers caught touchdown passes from Benkert this season.

Defensively, three Cavaliers have over 100 tackles this season. Linebacker Micah Kiser and safety Quin Blanding are among the best defensive players in the country. Virginia is also among the nation’s leaders with 15 interceptions. Three players have four each.

Hybrid defensive end/linebacker Chris Peace is another player to watch defensively for the Wahoo Crush. He had 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks this year.

The Cavaliers pass rush won’t matter much against the Navy triple-option. The Midshipmen finished second nationally in rushing. Only their arch rivals from the US Military Academy, AKA the Army Black Knights averaged more.
