Most Clutch Player-Malik Rosier
During the four-game stretch of close games in October, the big wins over Virginia Tech and Notre Dame in prime time and the comeback win over Virginia in November Miami had numerous clutch plays to turn the game around.
Narrowing it down to one player is difficult. When Miami needed a big play this year Malik Rosier was the player that set the table. Rosier has thrown for 25 touchdowns and run for another five. He threw for 2,908 and ran for another 427.
Although Rosier struggled in the final two games of the season he gave the Hurricanes a multi-dimensional quarterback. Many in the fanbase have speculated what would have happened in Brad Kaaya had returned for his Senior season or if Freshman N’K’osi Perry would not have redshirted.
Kaaya is a traditional pocket passer statuesque quarterback that didn’t give Miami the running threat Kaaya did. Perry often struggled accuracy and taking care of the ball in training camp.
Head Coach Mark Richt repeatedly said during the 2017 offseason that he wanted to utilize the run-pass option more often. He also stressed the importance of having a quarterback who would not turn the ball over.
