The Miami Hurricanes are making their 11th appearance in the Orange Bowl, but its first appearance in the game since 2004. That was the last game the Miami Hurricanes played as a member of the Big East. They ironically played Florida State in the game. It was a fitting transition to the ACC.

The Miami Hurricanes injuries have taken its toll on the offense. The Hurricanes will be without what most people perceived as their three best offensive players as the season began.
