Miami Hurricanes host Florida State: Live Streaming and Game Info
After more than a month away from the Watsco Center, the Miami Hurricanes will return home. Florida State and Miami have both started ACC play 1-1.
The Miami Hurricanes opened ACC play last Saturday with a victory over Pittsburgh. They lost their second conference game of the season at Georgia Tech on Wednesday night.
Florida State opened conference play with a loss to Duke last Saturday. The Seminoles evened their conference record with an upset win over number 12 North Carolina at home Wednesday night.
Florida State won both games against Miami last season. They won 75-57 in the first meeting last season in Miami. They earned the sweep with a 66-57 victory in Tallahassee in March. Florida State’s 12-2 start to this season is impressive. The Seminoles lost a lot off of last year’s team.
Eight players average at least 6.5 points per game. Four average in double figures this season. FSU is led by guard Terrance Mann who leads the team in scoring and rebounding. He averages 14.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game.
Entering the heart of conference play Miami needs more consistency throughout their lineup. Center Dewan Huell has been Miami’s most consistent player this season. Huell leads Miami in scoring and blocked shots and is third in rebounding. He is putting up 13.4 PPG, 1.3 BPG and 6.4 RPG. He was the only Hurricane in double figures in the loss to Georgia Tech with 13.

Bruce Brown who is expected to be a lottery pick in June’s NBA Draft has struggled shooting the ball for most of the season. He is shooting just 43 percent from the floor, 55.3 percent from the free throwing and has made just 11 of his 41 three-point attempts. Brown has made up for it by leading the team in assists and rebounding.
Overall the Hurricanes offense has been erratic this season. They rank 209th in the country scoring 73.4 points per game. Defensively Miami is one of the best teams in the nation. The Hurricanes allow 58.9 points per game, third in the nation.
Miami’s defense is also in the top ten nationally in field goal percentage defense, two and three-point field percentage against and free throws allowed. If the offense can become more consistent Miami should be an elite team as expected. Larranaga has said he needs to learn to be patient with such a young team.
