After an impressive win at North Carolina State on Sunday, the Miami Hurricanes return to the Watsco Center to host Louisville. The Cardinals are 15-4, 5-1 in the ACC. Miami is 14-4, 3-3.

The Cardinals travel to Coral Gables winners of four straight games. The Miami Hurricanes and Louisville share a common win and loss. Both teams have defeated Pittsburgh this season and lost to Clemson.

The game against Louisville presents Miami with another chance to get a win against a team ranked highly in the RPI. Through Monday night’s games UofL is 16th in the RPI. Miami is currently 20th.

The Miami Hurricanes win at North Carolina State on Sunday broke a two game Miami losing streak. They had also lost three of their previous four before defeating the Wolfpack. Miami exploded offensively on Sunday. The Hurricanes scored an ACC season high 86-81 win in the victory.

Sophomore star guard Bruce Brown broke out of a two slump in the win. Brown scored 11 points total and shot 4-20 from the floor in Miami’s losses to Clemson and Duke prior to the win in Raleigh. Against North Carolina State Brown scored 19 points, shot seven of eight from the floor made all three of his three-point attempts and had four rebounds and nine assists.

Louisville is led by 6’7 Junior forward Deng Adel from Australia. Adel is averaging 15.8 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He shoots 48.9 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Raymond Spaulding a 6’10 averages 11.4 PPG and leads Louisville with 9.3 rebounds per game. Quentin Snider runs the offense. He is second on Louisville at 12.8 PPG and also dishes out 4.2 assists.

The Cardinals do not do a good job of sharing the basketball. Only one player other than Snider averages more than two assists per game. Louisville is 212th nationally in assists.

Sharing the ball was a big point of emphasis from Jim Larranaga to his team prior to Sunday’s in the capital of North Carolina. The Hurricanes had 26 assists on 34 made baskets against North Carolina State. Four players had at least four assists.

Miami has lost six of the last seven to Louisville entering Wednesday night’s game. They lost 71-66 at the KFC Yum Center last season. The Hurricanes did win the last meeting in Miami in 2016 73-65.

Miami’s win in 2016 broke a five game Louisville winning streak in the series. That streak dated back to 1966. Miami’s last win over the Cardinals prior to 2016 was 94-84 victory in 1963.

Miami and Louisville are the two highest teams in the AP Poll outside the top 25. The Hurricanes are 26th with 83 points and the Cardinals one spot lower with 81 points and 27th.

Next Game: Miami travel to Tallahassee for a return match-up with Florida State. Miami defeated the Seminoles 80-74 at the Watsco Center earlier this month. Florida State is 14-5 overall, 3-4 in the ACC.
