Tim James 1996-99

Tim James is the only player in Miami History to earn a conference player of the year award. James was named the Big East Player of the Year in 1999. James led the Hurricanes in scoring, rebounds and blocks during that season.

Miami finished 23-7 overall and 15-3 in second place in the Big East. They earned the second seed in the NCAA East Region before being upset by Purdue in the Second round.

James is the only player in Miami Hurricanes history to reach over 1,500 points, 800 rebounds and 200 blocked shots during his collegiate career.

James was named first-team All-Big East after the 1998 and 1999 seasons. He was second-team All-Big East as a Sophomore in 1997. James was a third-team All-American in 1999. He was the only All-American from Miami in an over 40-year span.

James was not successful in the NBA. He spent three seasons in the association with Miami, Charlotte and Philadelphia. He was the to go to player on three of the most successful teams in Miami history. James helped lead the Miami Hurricanes program to the first two of three straight NCAA Tournament. It was the first and to date only time that has happened in school history.
