With wins in three of their past four games, the Miami Hurricanes will host Wake Forest at the Watsco Center on Wednesday night. Miami is coming off of a key road win at Virginia Tech on Saturday.

Saturday’s win over the Hokies coupled with a Louisville loss to Florida State puts the Miami Hurricanes into fourth place in the ACC. The Hurricanes are tied with the Cardinals and North Carolina State.

With victories over both teams, Miami owns the tiebreaker. The top four teams in the final ACC standings receives a bye in the conference tournament.

The Hurricanes are now 2-0 since losing star guard Bruce Brown. Brown had surgery on his left foot last week. He is expected to be out for six weeks. That would keep him out through the conference tournament.

Wake Forest travels to South Florida with losses in eight of their last nine, and ten of their last 12. Miami cannot sleep on the Demon Deacons. Wake scored 96 in a victory against the Hurricanes in Winston-Salem last season.

Miami’s offense should be able to thrive against the ACC’s worst defense. Wake’s 74.7 points per game allowed is the ACC’s worst. They are second to last in opponents field goal percentage and last in three-field goal percentage.

Offensively Wake Forest is in the bottom third of the ACC in scoring and field goal percentage. They are fourth in three-point field goal percentage. Miami has had trouble defending the three at times this season, particularly in conference play.

Miami is ninth in the ACC in opponents three-point percentage. Three times in ACC play this season the Hurricanes have allowed an opponent to shoot at least 47 percent on three-point attempts. Miami is going to have to get out on the Demon Deacons shooters.
