Mark Pope, Brian Hightower and Daquris Wiggins all have a great chance to play a lot of snaps at receiver in 2018. Miami is also the favorite to land four-star wide receiver Marquez Ezzard from Georgia.

The Hurricanes have received an oral commitment from defensive tackle Nesta Silvera of American Heritage to sign his Letter of Intent on the traditional signing day February 7. Silvera is one of the Hurricanes most important signees in the Storm ’18 Class.

The Hurricanes were not very deep at defensive tackle in 2017 behind Norton and McIntosh. They also lost their primary backup, Anthony Moten. Moten was a Senior in 2017.

Rising Senior Gerald Willis who sat out 2017 is almost guaranteed to be the starter at one defensive tackle spot in 2018. There is not a lot of experience beyond that. Pat Bethel who recorded 18 tackles and one sack in 2017 also returns and is likely the front-runner for the other starting defensive tackle spot.

If Silvera signs as expected he will almost definitely receive a lot of playing time as part of the rotation. He will also be one of the Freshmen expected to produce and challenge to start.
