Miami was willing to reschedule the game for sometime between 2024 and ’28. Arkansas State wanted the game to be played between 2020-22. The likelihood is that Miami will not schedule another road game other than this one against a sub power-five team during the Richt era.

Although unfair, those games do nothing for major college football teams. The Power five team loses the gate and will be criticized for scheduling a less talented team if they win and blasted if they lost to them.

Arkansas State was also frustrated in September for their perception that Miami was not willing to be flexible and try to play the game. There were reported offers on the table for accommodations in Memphis or Jonesboro or to move the game up to Friday.

Moving the game to Friday would not have worked well. Hurricane Irma made landfall on Saturday. Miami Athletic Director Blake James directed the media to the Hurricanes attorneys regarding their stance on the impending lawsuit.

"“I am aware of Arkansas State’s position on this matter. We believe strongly in our standing and will not comment furhter as both parties’ attorneys bring this to resolution”"

This appears to be headed to court. Both sides are stubborn. It also appears that Arkansas State was upset because what hosting a team with Miami’s history would have done for their athletic department and program. Either way, neither school has been very transparent about the situation.
