Up until the last two games Walker had been one of the hottest players in the country. He was averaging 18 points per game in the eight games. Miami won five of the eight games.

Against Syracuse, Miami is going to need to shoot well. The Orange’s vaunted 2-3 zone is one of the most difficult defenses to play in the country. Syracuse is seventh in the country in field goal percentage against. Teams shoot 39.2 percent from the floor against the Orange.

Miami has to move the ball well against the zone and get good shots. That might seem obvious but the zone can lull opponents into shooting the three. Being able to make threes is nearly essential to defeating Syracuse.

The Orange is a respectable 110th nationally allowing teams to make 33.6 percent of their three-point field goal attempts. They are 282nd in three-point field attempts against at 636. That comes out to about 24 per game. Miami cannot settle to shoot the three.

The Hurricanes have to get the ball inside to Dewan Huell and Ebuka Izundu. They have to shoot the three well and Walker, Chris Lykes and Ja’Quan Newton need to be able to penetrate and get into the lane to help Huell, Izundu and the shooters.
