An interview with ESPN this week Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt said that “Malik (Rosier) is the starting quarterback, for sure” when speaking to ESPN about who the Hurricanes starting quarterback would be in 2018.

Rosier is expected to be challenged by Redshirt Freshman N’Kosi Perry and true Freshman Jarren Williams to be the Miami Hurricanes starting quarterback. Richt often says every position is open for competition during every offseason and during training camp. Rosier did lead the Hurricanes to their best season in over ten years though, so someone will have to beat Rosier out.

Rosier had an up and down season as the Miami Hurricanes began the season 10-0 and then lost their last three games. The rising Redshirt Senior quarterback led the Hurricanes to multiple second-half comebacks. Rosier had troubles with accuracy throughout the season. That often hurt Miami drives and stymied them on third downs.

Rosier had five games last season with an under 50 percent completion percentage and another that was at 50 percent. If he is going to keep the job this season that will have to change.

With Evan Sheriffs as the backup, last season and Perry redshirting there was not a lot of depth behind Rosier. That will be different with Perry and Williams this season.
