The departure of Miami Hurricanes Defensive Line Coach Craig Kuligowski is the first loss off the staff of Mark Richt during his tenure in Coral Gables. Who are the most likely candidates to replace him?
The Palm Beach Post Miami Hurricanes beat writer Matt Porter gave two potential candidates in his article about Kuligowski’s departure. Porter tabbed former Miami defensive lineman Kevin Patrick and former Florida Atlantic Head Coach Charlie Partridge as potential successors.
He was the 1993 Big East Defensive Player of the Year and a First-team All-American. Patrick recorded 10 sacks and 11 tackles for loss that season. He is fifth all-time in sacks in Miami Hurricanes history with 23. Patrick was a 2015 Inductee into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame.
Patrick coached one of the country’s best defensive lineman at North Carolina State during the past two seasons. Bradley Chubb is the fourth best player in the 2018 Draft Class according to Sports Illustrated. He finished second nationally with 26 tackles for loss and seventh with an average of .83 sacks (10.5 total) in 2017.
Patridge spent the 2017 season as the Defensive Line Coach at Pittsburgh. He coached Florida Atlantic for three seasons. The Owls finished 3-9 each year. He was succeeded by Lane Kiffin who led them to a 10-3 season in 2017 and a victory on their home field in the Boca Raton Bowl
