The ACC’s fifth-place finisher plays the winner of the first round game between the 12th and 13th placed team. The sixth-placed team faces the winner of 14 versus 11. Notre Dame is currently 11th and would face Wake Forest. The 12/13 game would be Georgia Tech and Boston College.
Miami lost to both the Yellow Jackets and Eagles. Those games were on the road, but will not be looked at favorably by the NCAA Committee.

Had Miami won both of those game they would be in fourth place by themselves in the ACC. They would be 10-5 in the Conference and 21-6 overall. Those records would have the talk of them being on the bubble evaporate.
Even winning one of those two games would likely have the NCAA bubble talk gone. If they had split with Boston College and Georgia Tech the Hurricanes would be in a four-way tie for fourth place in the ACC with Clemson, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.
Miami has three games left in the regular season. They host Boston College on Saturday, travel to North Carolina on Tuesday night and host Virginia Tech March 3. If Miami can win out if forces the three teams ahead of them to win two of three to tie them for fourth or win all three to finish ahead of them.
If Miami can win two of them they still finish a very solid 10-8 in the ACC. There is a lot to sort out in the last week of the ACC regular season. Virginia, North Carolina and Duke are clearly the class of the ACC this season.

The remainder of the teams are bunched up. The ACC Tournament games in Brooklyn should create just as much March Madness as the NCAA Tournament that begins a week and a half later.
