Donaldson started 10 of Miami’s 13 games in 2017. ESPN named him as a true Freshman All-American. The honor came just one season after Donaldson’s teammates wide receiver Ahmmon Richards and linebackers Shaq Quarterman and Michael Pinckney were also named to the team.

Targeted for tackle he played this season at right guard. K.C. McDermott and Tyree St. Louis played left and right tackle protecting Malik Rosier in 2017. Donaldson is likely to stay a right guard according to Richt.

"“We have enough tackle candidates that we are going to start out with him at guard…If we get through spring and everybody is struggling and we’ve got Tyree [St. Louis] and we don’t know who else it could be, we would consider making that move but we think we have enough guys that have the skill set for tackle that hopefully they’ll do well and we can leave Navaughn there for now, anyway.”"

The other players that Richt is talking about for right tackle are likely rising Sophomores, Kai-Leon Herbert and Zalon’tae Hillery. Herbert was a four-star player and 25th ranked tackle in the class of 2017, Hillery was three-stars and 53rd.
