Jim Larranaga says Miami Hurricanes road record important for NCAA Tournament

During his post-game press conference following the Miami Hurricanes loss to North Carolina in the ACC Tournament, Head Coach Jim Larranaga said his team’s eight road victories this season bode well for the NCAA Tournament.

According to Larranaga, his Miami Hurricanes are one of only four teams in the ACC with a winning record away from home. Duke, North Carolina and Virginia are the other three. All three should be top seeds in the NCAA Tournament.

Miami is 8-4 on the road and 3-2 on neutral courts this season. The Hurricanes biggest win on the road came February 26 at North Carolina. Miami also has road wins at North Carolina State and Notre Dame.

Larranaga cites road wins as a formula to NCAA Tournament success. Miami won four games on the road last season. They were ousted in the first round of the NCAA by Michigan State in 2017.

When they advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2016 the Hurricanes had six road victories. Larranaga spoke about the importance of playing well on the road and how it pertains to March.
