"“I love his style so far. He’s very, like I said, into fundamentals and I can see over the past couple days he’s been here how he wants us to attack things. … He seems like a really good coach that knows his stuff, and we can’t wait to get the pads on and keep learning from him.”"

Jackson isn’t the only defensive lineman or the only Jackson high on Simpson. Joe Jackson who is likely to pair with Demetrius at defensive end this season also spoke about Simpson’s early impact.

"“He seems like a really good coach, coming from the Falcons. He has a lot to teach us, we have a lot to learn. We have to accept that and be open-minded to what he has to offer us and try to become better players.”"

Simpson steps into a new job having to mostly rebuild the entire defensive line. All four starters are gone. The Jackson two received a lot of playing time last season, but defensive tackle will be a question mark.

Joe Jackson was second on Miami last season with 6.5 sacks. He leads all returnees. Despite playing in only seven games last season Demetrius finished sixth on the Hurricanes with 7.5 tackles for loss.
