Thomas seems to be a player who is more productive on the field than his combine numbers would indicate. Longtime NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said:

"“I didn’t think his tape was outstanding. but then he went to the East-West (Shrine) game and dominated,…He’s got the body type you want for a defensive end … played a little too high (in the run game), you can see his length and edge talent in the pass game.”"

Mayock commented on Thomas during his 40-yard dash at the combine. Several of the other Miami Hurricanes that participated also scored high.

Per Porter, Norton (5.56) lifted 225 pounds 30 times in the bench press drill, seventh-best among all defensive linemen. Herndon’s 21 reps in the bench press were third-best among tight ends, Walton (5.56), 4.6-second 40-yard dash was 15th among running back and his 118-inch broad jump was 16th.

Other impressive Hurricanes numbers were Delaney’s 4.46 40 and McDermott tying for 11th among offensive linemen with 26 reps in the bench press.

Several of the Miami Hurricanes eligible for the draft are ranked highly at their positions per NFL.Com. Badgley is the third highest ranked kicker in the draft. He is behind Auburn’s Daniel Carlson and Florida Eddy Pineiro.
