Meeting with reporters after the NCAA Tournament Brackets came out Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Jim Larranaga relayed that star Sophomore guard Bruce Brown will not play in the NCAA Tournament.

Brown has been out since the end of January after suffering a foot injury. He played 32 minutes in his final game of the season for the Miami Hurricanes against Florida State. He had surgery on his left foot later that week. Larranaga was asked if Brown could play on Thursday against Loyola-Chicago and emphatically replied No!

Brown is scheduled to meet with a doctor Monday. He could be out of the walking boot. Larranaga said that Brown won’t play because of the potential of reinjuring the foot. He didn’t explicitly say that Brown wouldn’t play. He came as close to implying it as he could.

Miami never had much of chance to pair their two star guards together healthy. Freshman Lonnie Walker was just hitting his stride after surgery to repair a torn MCL last summer when Brown got hurt.  Walker has taken the torch from Brown and become the team’s leading scorer and best player.

Larranaga said that Brown will not play due to the potential of reinjuring the foot. His comments greatly indicated that the Sophomore is unlikely to play.

"“He hasn’t played in six weeks…It’ll take him six weeks to rehab the foot. You go to the NCAA tournament and you play Bruce Brown, you think he’ll play hard? You’re darn right, and that would that pressure on the danger of him reinjuring it. There’s no chance he will play Thursday.”"
