The Miami Hurricanes Women’s Basketball team was ousted by Quinnipiac for the second straight season. The Lady Canes lost despite being the higher seeded team against Quinnipiac for the second straight season.

Despite having a one-point lead after three quarters the Miami Hurricanes could not hold the lead. The Bobcats blitzed the young Hurricanes 33-18 in the fourth quarter. A 15-1 run by Quinnipiac over a nearly four-minute span put the Hurricanes away.

The run started after an Emese Hof layup gave Miami their last lead at 60-59 with 7:21 left in the game. A Brittany Martin three-point shot gave the Bobcats the lead for good 22 seconds later.

Quinnipiac used balanced scoring to cease control during the run and throughout the game. Six lady Bobcats finished in double figures. They were led by Jen Fay who had 19 points and six rebounds. Aryn McClure nearly had a triple-double with 13 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.

Miami had four players in double figures. Erykah Davenport led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds, seven offensive. Her outstanding Senior season and Miami Hurricanes career comes to an end with the loss.

The future is bright for a young Miami Hurricanes Women’s team. Freshman Endia Banks scored 15 points and had ten rebounds on seven-of-ten from the free throw line.

  • Classmate Mykea Gray who had an outstanding season struggled against Quinnipiac. She had ten points but shot just two-of-10 from the field and committed four turnovers.

Junior Center Emese Hof should be one of the focal points of the Miami attack next season. She finished with 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three steals and one block. Hof was 6-11 from the floor.

The stats were similar to the Men’s loss to Loyola on Thursday. Miami out rebounded Quinnipiac 40-33.

Their lack of three-point shooting and inability to convert from the free throw line played a big part in the loss. Miami made just two-of-seven three-point attempts and 16-of-28 free throws.

Senior forward Keyanna Harris also went out with a good game. She nearly had a triple-double. She scored eight points and had eight rebounds and six assists.

Miami loses three Seniors out of the rotation. In addition to Davenport and Harris, Miami also loses Shanese Bailey who played 12 minutes against Quinnipiac on Saturday.
