After two days of spring practice in shorts earlier this week the Miami Hurricanes practiced in pads for the first time on Saturday. That concluded the first week of spring practice.

After practicing in helmets and shorts for the first two practices earlier this week, the Miami Hurricanes were eager to dress in pads for the first time this week. Being in pads gave the players a chance to simulate game conditions for the first time this spring. As the spring practice progresses more game-type conditions will be introduced.

The players also got a chance to practice in front of a crowd on Saturday as the Hurricanes hosted Junior Day on Saturday. The Hurricanes will get another chance in front of a crowd when Miami holds their Spring game on April 14. That will be the middle of three scrimmages. The others will occur on April 7 and 21.

The Spring game will be open to the public and be treated like a normal game. Richt said that the third scrimmage will have “every situation you can dream of”. The areas that Miami needs to improve from last season are third down and red zone offense. They will likely simulate those a lot in the final scrimmage.
