In an extensive interview with ESPN’s Chris Low that was published on Friday, Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt discussed the importance of establishing roots and remaining loyal to the school that hired you.

In examing the first part of the interview Canes Warning observed how Richt was creating a lasting legacy for and with the Miami Hurricanes. During the last part of the interview, Richt talked with Low about the importance of establishing roots in a community as a Head Coach.

This is an era of coaches with big egos and those who are looking over their shoulder at being fired or looking ahead at a bigger better job. Richt keeps focused on his job and is one of the most humble and respectful coaches there is. He is an easy person to root for.

Richt told Low he was never looking for another job during his 15 seasons with Georgia until he was fired at the end of the regular season in 2015. The former Miami Hurricanes quarterback was hired at Miami less than a week after being let go by the Bulldogs.

The criticism of him in Athens was that he could not win the biggest games. Richt led Georgia to six SEC Championship games and two SEC Championships during his tenure with the Bulldogs.

After leading Miami to its best season in 15 years Richt had overtures from other programs about their Head Coaching jobs. He remains committed to Miami. He and his wife have put down roots in Coral Gables.
