Like his football counterpart Mark Richt, Larranaga is one of the most humble coaches in the country. He genuinely enjoys being around his players. It shows in his demeanor. Brown commented early in the season on how the team was handling the distractions. Larranaga relayed the story.

"“Bruce Brown’s quote early in the year said it best. When he was asked about me and how I was handling it, he said, ‘I think Coach L likes to be about the players. … He smiles most when he’s with us. And that is so very true.”"

The scandal has hindered Miami’s ability to recruit. They currently have zero players signed or committed to the 2018 recruiting class. Miami is not alone. Arizona is in the same situation. Larranaga spoke to Zagacki about the plan to add players to the roster.

"“We might try to do it with some transfers…but we also have to open our options to signing high school players, guys that might stay three or four years.”"

The transfer market seems far more likely. None of the high school players that Miami has offered scholarships to have the Hurricanes high on their list.

There are numerous graduate transfers that could come in next season an make an immediate impact. Miami could also add players that would have to sit out next season and be eligible in 2019-20.
