The Miami Hurricanes held their annual Pro Day at the Miami Dolphins indoor training facility. That created the odd picture of New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick doing some work under Dolphins memorabilia.
Fourteen Miami Hurricanes took part in the combine. The players included the nine former Hurricanes who participated at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis earlier this month, players who were not invited and a few surprises.
Guard Trevor Darling, defensive end Trent Harris and defensive tackle Anthony Moten were expected to take part in the Miami Pro Day. Former walk-on wide receiver Malik Mayweather and walk-on backup kicker Diego Marquez were surprises.
Belichick’s presence in the Dolphins facility had Twitter buzzing. Several Hurricanes alums have played for the future Hall of Fame Head Coach. Former Hurricanes wide receiver Philip Dorsett is currently on the Patriots.
He was acquired shortly before the beginning of the 2017 season. The Patriots received him in a trade with Indianapolis for quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Belichick and several other coaches and executives had an easy commute from the owners’ meetings in Orlando to the Dolphins facility in Davie to observe the Hurricanes NFL hopefuls.
The 14 Hurricanes that worked out at pro day hope to join the nine Miami alums that were drafted last season. The Hurricanes three-year streak of first-round draft picks is likely to come to an end this season.
