Fourteen Miami Hurricanes participated in the Miami Hurricanes Pro Day on Wednesday. The U has to replace four key players on the defensive line, their top two receivers, two starting offensive linemen, the school’s all-time leading scorer and a former all-conference running back.

Those players have moved on to pursue their dreams of playing in the NFL. There is not one outstanding player that has a chance to thrive in the NFL like there have been the last three years. The Miami Hurricanes three-year streak of first-round picks is likely to come to an end next month.

In spite of that, it’s a good group. Running back Mark Walton could be one of the steals of the draft He is projected to be picked in the fourth round. If he didn’t suffer a season-ending ankle injury he might have been projected higher. The scouts like Walton’s versatility.

The only NFL Head Coach that attended the Miami Hurricanes Pro Day was Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick. He ran Hurricanes defensive linemen through drills. You have to wonder if he was there to watch Braxton Berrios. Berrios has been targeted by many to be perfect as a slot receiver in New England.

Belichick’s appearance was impressive during a time of year that many of the Head Coaches like to vacation. It shows his dedication and work ethic. Many teams send assistant coaches to Pro Days. His presence and willingness to work with the defensive lineman meant a lot to the participants.

Defensive tackle Anthony Moten said it was “shocking” that Belichick was willing to work with them. Belichick told defensive tackle Kendrick Norton where to put his hands. Chad Thomas told Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post what it was like to work with the future Hall of Fame Coach.
