A week after getting a home sweep over Virginia the Miami Hurricanes had the tables turned on them in Atlanta against Georgia Tech. The loss was Miami’s fourth in a row.

Georgia Tech began the series against the Miami Hurricanes with an opening win on Friday night 6-1. The Yellow Jackets took Saturday’s game 13-4 and earned the sweep on Sunday with a 4-1 victory. The weekend series came after UM dropped a 1-0 midweek decision to Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers.

Georgia Tech took control of Friday night’s game early. The Yellow Jackets scored two in the first, one in the second and one in the third to take a commanding 4-1 lead after three innings. Miami scored their one run in the top of the second inning. Outfielder Michael Perez plated catcher Isaac Quinones for the Hurricanes only run.

Georgia Tech added another single run in the bottom of the fifth innings. The Yellow Jackets pounded Miami Hurricanes ace Jeb Bargfeldt. Bargfeldt pitched five innings allowing five runs, four earned on ten hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

The Miami bullpen did a good job allowing just one run in three innings. Former starter Michael Mediavilla had an encouraging outing. He held the Yellow Jackets scoreless in 1.2 innings.

Georgia Tech starter Xzavion Curry dominated Miami. He pitched eight innings allowing six hits, and one run with a walk and 12 strikeouts. Curry improved to 6-0 with the win. He leads the ACC and is second in the nation in victories.
