Miami also wasted another stellar performance earlier in the week in the loss to Florida Gulf Coast. Freshman Daniel Federman pitched eight innings allowing just one unearned run on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts.

The Hurricanes got the loss when the Eagles scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the eighth. Miami also lost an exhibition game to the Marlins on Tuesday. McMahon made his Hurricanes debut in a 22-2 loss to the Marlins.
