The Miami Basketball team fell short of expectations this season. After beginning the 2017-18 season ranked 13th in the country UM lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as a six seed to eventual South Region Champion Loyola.

Next year brings a lot of question marks for Miami Basketball. Lonnie Walker is definitely gone after declaring for the NBA Draft and announcing he will sign with an agent. Bruce Brown and Dewan Huell also declared for the NBA Draft but have not signed with an agent. The allows them the opportunity to return to school by June 11.

The FBI investigation into College Basketball has hurt recruiting classes at some schools across the nation. Miami Basketball is no different. The Miami Basketball program has not signed or received any verbal commitments from any players for next season.

Miami also lost Senior guard Ja’Quan Newton. With the players guaranteed to return for next season, the Hurricanes have just eight scholarship players. There is plenty of talent to be competitive in 2018-19, but an extreme lack of depth.

Several media outlets have published their “way too early ACC Power rankings” for the 2018-19 season. Miami basketball is expected to finish in the bottom half of the ACC next season.
