The Hurricanes are ranked between ninth and 12th by the North Carolina State Student paper The Technician, the Louisville Courier-Journal and Syracuse.Com.

The Courier-Journal is the most down on Miami.

"12. Miami Who’s gone: G Ja’Quan Newton, G Lonnie Walker Whose status is uncertain: G Bruce Brown, PF Dewan Huell (declared for NBA draft, didn’t hire agents) Who’s back: G Dejan Vasiljevic, F Anthony Lawrence, C Ebuka Izundu, C Rodney Miller, PG Chris Lykes, F/C Deng Gak, F/C Sam Waardenburg, G Miles Wilson (transfer) Who’s coming in: No one yet. If Huell comes back, Miami will keep a shot-blocking presence who can score a little bit. This will be Lykes’ team going forward. He is a great point guard in the making. The question is, does he have enough help?"

Lykes should have enough help even if Brown and Huell stay in the draft. It’s hard to imagine Huell staying in the NBA Draft. Huell’s decision to enter the draft is puzzling. He is ranked 78th on NBADraft.Net’s Big Board. Walker is 14th and Brown 55th. Most sites have Brown much higher ranked.

It’s also a bit misleading to say that Wilson and Gak are returning. They both redshirted last season. Wilson after transferring from Mount St. Mary’s to Miami and Gak in his Freshman campaign. They will be two players new to the Miami rotation.
