Evan McKendry was shelled for the second straight start. He had been dominant this season before his last two outings. McKendry allowed seven earned runs on seven hits and four walks in 5.1 innings to take the loss.

Sunday’s game was moved up an hour to avoid the forecasted rain, but it didn’t help.

The Hurricanes lost their midweek game at home to Florida Atlantic 7-4. The win gave the Owls a sweep of the three-game season series. FAU got going early with three runs in the top of the first.

Miami got back in the game with two runs in the bottom of the third. The Owls broke the game open with one in the fourth and two in the fifth. Both teams scored in the seventh and Miami added one in the ninth for the final score. Daniel Federman took the loss for Miami.

Midweek games have crushed Miami this season. With Wednesday’s loss, the Hurricanes are now 1-6 in midweek games. Those are the games most power five schools expect to win.
