During a Thursday appearance on the Dan Patrick show disgraced former Louisville Head Coach Rick Pitino said that Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Jim Larranaga is clean.

The Miami Hurricanes were one of seven schools implicated in the FBI scandal that rocked College Basketball throughout last season. Pitino said that he believes that Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Jim Larranaga is clean.

Larranaga was initially implicated in the FBI probe as Coach Three and the Miami as University Seven. The Hurricanes were connected to the scandal through AAU Coach Brad Augustine and North Carolina signee Nassir Little.

Augustine reportedly was going to pay Little $150,000 to attend Miami. Augustine was eventually cleared and Little and his parents signed affidavits stating they never received the offer. Yahoo Sports reported in February that in a span of 330 days and over 4,000 calls that the FBI intercepted Miami was never mentioned.

Pitino appeared on Patrick’s show to clear his own name. He denied any wrongdoing and went off on several tangents to try to do so. In the process, he also said that Larranaga is clean.

Assistant Coaches from Arizona, Auburn, Oklahoma State and USC were arrested and charged as a result of the FBI Probe. No coaches from the Miami have faced any charges. Pitino brought Larranaga up on his own.

"“I know from the bottom of my heart that Jim Larranaga is innocent…I know that. I don’t know about the other people involved, I don’t have any information, but I know Jim Larranaga’s innocent. In my eyes, in my heart. But I would tell you that 90 percent of college basketball is clean, and I would’ve said that when I first started, 40 years ago. Ninety percent."
