Miami finished this season 22-10 and in a four-way tie for third in the ACC during the regular season. They were the third seed in the Conference tournament. That earned them a double bye to the quarterfinals. Miami was eliminated from the ACC Tournament in the quarters by North Carolina for the second straight season.

Miami advanced to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history. It was the first time they accomplished that since 1998-2000.

The Hurricanes were eliminated in the first round of the NCAAs for the second straight year. Eventual South Region Champion and Final Four participant Loyola-Chicago needed a buzzer beater to oust Miami.

The Hurricanes won 20 games for the sixth time in Larranaga’s seven seasons and for the fourth year in a row. The six 20 win campaigns is a record for a Miami Basketball coach. Duke, UNC and Virginia are the only other ACC schools to win 20 games in the last seven years.

Miami is also one of just four teams in the ACC to reach the last three NCAA Tournaments. Duke, UNC and UVA are the other ACC schools to also accomplish that feat.

Larranaga expressed his gratitude to the University about the extension. He also spoke about the direction of the program.

"“We are excited about the direction in which our program is headed…This contract extension is a strong indication that we have the support of the University to continue the winning tradition and culture we have built."
