Miami Hurricanes Freshmen wide receivers Brian Hightower and Daquris Wiggins have been impressive this Spring according to Head Coach Mark Richt.

Richt spoke with Christopher Stock of Inside the U about the progress the newest Miami Hurricanes wide receivers were making. Hightower is more physically mature and stronger at this point in his career. Wiggins could be a good candidate for a Redshirt season this fall.

Marquez Ezzard and Mark Pope are also part of the 2018 recruiting class. They will arrive on campus this summer.

Wiggins often relies on his physical gifts to make plays. He is going to have to get stronger before he makes an impact. The Hurricanes have extensive depth at wide receiver. They lost leading receiver Braxton Berrios, but all the other wide receivers return from last season.

No Freshman wide receiver is likely to make the impact that Ahmmon Richards did in 2016. Richards set the Miami program record with 934 receiving yards. That led Freshman nationally as did hit 19.1 yards per catch. He was named a true Freshmen All-American by ESPN.

Richt gave a description of how the two Freshmen are doing to Stock and Inside the U.

"“Hightower has shown us that he is a physical blocker and he’s not afraid to catch a ball in traffic or battle when it’s a tightly-contested throw, which is what we thought when we recruited. He’s exactly what we thought."
