"“Wiggins, he’ll flash when he plays, but then he’ll have issues because he’s too skinny right now. He’s not strong enough yet. He’s not strong enough sometimes running routes. We’re putting hands on the receivers about every snap. No one is getting free-access routes like you might have got in high school. You’ve got to get off a jam almost every time so between that and trying to block stronger, more physical guys, he’s struggling. But like I told him (Saturday), you’ve got the skill set, but you’ve got to get bigger, stronger, and more physical in route-running and blocking.”"

Rising Sophomore Jeff Thomas showed flashes of his potential last season. The former East Saint Louis Flyer had 17 receptions for 374 yards and two touchdowns as a Freshman in 2017. His classmate Mike Harley had nine receptions for 91 yards.

Neither Wiggins nor Hightower made an impact during Saturday’s first scrimmage. Wiggins had one reception while Hightower was shutout.

The return of Richards, Thomas and Harley plus Darrell Langham and Lawrence Cager will make it a challenge for the incoming Freshmen to get playing time this fall. Cager had 16 receptions for 237 yards and three touchdowns last season. Langham had 11 for 190 and arguably Miami’s two biggest receptions of the season.
