Speaking to reporters after Tuesday’s practice Quarterbacks Coach Jon Richt said that he and the Miami Hurricanes coaching staff would like to see incumbent quarterback Malik Rosier improve his accuracy and leadership.

Rosier struggled with accuracy last season. He completed 54 percent of his passes on the season. During the three-game losing streak that ended the Miami Hurricanes season, he completed only 44.9 percent of his passes.

He also threw for just 500 yards with three touchdowns and five interceptions. In the losses to Clemson in the ACC Championship Game and Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl Rosier threw one touchdown and five interceptions.

Rosier still remains the prohibitive favorite to remain the starting quarterback. Richt, his father Head Coach Mark Richt and Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown all want to see more consistency from all their quarterbacks. Rosier is being pushed by redshirt Freshmen N’Kosi Perry and Cade Weldon and Freshman Jarren Williams.

Miami’s quarterback depth is much better than it was last season. Rosier’s primary backup last season Evan Sheriffs wasn’t nearly as talented at quarterback behind him this season. Jon Richt spoke to the Sun Sentinal about what they are working on with the quarterbacks this spring.

"“We’re still working on it. There’s always room for improvement, but some of it is us and some of it is other things. We have to learn that when we have a perfect pocket, we have to trust it every single time. That’s one thing we didn’t do Saturday."
