They are still trying to figure out who will play right tackle and how much depth they have at the position. It seems like that the Miami coaching staff wants to go with a veteran.

Sophomore Kai-Leon Herbert, Redshirt Freshman Zalon’tae Hillery and Freshmen John Campbell and Delone Scaife could also be in the mix. Searles discussed their progress with Christy Chirinos of the Sun-Sentinel.

"“At right tackle, most of the time I have two, but who’s the third? Right now, we’ve got one tackle and who’s the second one?…There are a few guys – we have some young guys who are going to be really good. Some of them should be getting ready for the prom, but they are here. Some of them are young and have to grow up quickly. That’s still a work in progress"

Jahair Jones remains the favorite to start at left guard. Earlier this Spring Richt mentioned that Jones always had the physical tools. He’s finally understanding the mental part. Searles spoke about the progress that Jones has made.

"“He’s doing a good job…He’s stepping up. His play is starting to reflect his ability. He’s got to continue to get better, but he’s done a good job.”"

Saturday’s Spring game should give the coaching staff a better idea of who is ahead at this point. There is no rush with the season still more than four months away.

At this time last Spring Richt and Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown didn’t know who their starting quarterback would be. That is likely going to be the same with the right side of the line this year.
