Rosier played all of his snaps in the Spring game with the first team offense against the first team defense. The first team offensive line struggled for the second straight scrimmage of the Spring. They have given up 16 sacks in the two scrimmages. Any analysis of the three quarterbacks has to take them into account.

Perry like Rosier is going to have to work on his accuracy if he hopes to see playing time this fall. Williams seems to be more polished as a passer than Perry is. They both bring attributes to the field that the other doesn’t have. Perry is more elusive.

Rosier finished nine of 14 for 105 yards and he was sacked four times. Perry went 11 of 26 for 166 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Williams was nine of 14 for 107 yards, with a touchdown.

Perry and Williams are both exceptionally talented players who give Richt a much better alternative at quarterback this fall if Rosier struggles. Evan Sherriffs reportedly had the best grasp of Richt’s offensive among the quarterbacks last season. He doesn’t have the skill set of Miami’s top three quarterbacks currently on the roster.

Sheriffs had a few chances to lead the offense last season and didn’t do much with it. His performance and the reality that Perry and Williams would likely pass him on the depth chart probably contributed to his decision to transfer.

Unless Rosier fails this season the biggest quarterback battle should come a year from now. Barring an injury or poor performance by Rosier, Williams and Perry are going to have to wait for their time.
