The Miami Hurricanes have received their second commitment to the 2018 recruiting class. Oklahoma guard Kameron McGusty announced his commitment to Jim Larranaga earlier today.
McGusty becomes the second transfer to commit to the Miami Hurricanes in the Class of 2018. Guard Anthony Mack announced his intent to transfer to Miami from Wyoming over the weekend.
McGusty and Mack give the Hurricanes vastly needed depth in the backcourt. Before their commitments, Miami had only three guards on their roster.
The Hurricanes return starting point guard Chris Lykes, reserve shooting guard Dejan Vasiljevic and Mount St. Mary’s guard Miles Wilson. Wilson sat out this past year after transfer following the 2016-17 season.
McGusty will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he begins his Miami Hurricanes career during the 2019-20 basketball season. Larranaga might still be pursuing one more player in the backcourt for 2018-19. At this point, the likelihood is that the Hurricanes would be looking to add a transfer guard who would be eligible immediately.

McGusty chose the Miami Hurricanes over Houston and ACC Rival Virginia Tech. In two seasons at Oklahoma, McGusty averaged 9.4 points per game, made 34.3 percent of his three-point attempts and shot 76.5 percent from the foul line.
