In three years in Fort Myers, Johnson averaged 13.1 points per game, 2.9 rebounds per game, 3.1 assists per game and 1.4 steals. Johnson is an exceptional shooter who will give the Hurricanes an added dimension they didn’t always have last season.

Johnson has shot 44.1 percent from the floor, 37.1 percent on threes and 68.8 percent from the line during his collegiate career. He significantly improved those numbers this season.

The 2016-17 season was Johnson’s best. He averaged 16.1 PPG, 2.9 RPG, three APG, and two steals per game. Those all set career highs, as did his shooting numbers this season. He shot 46.9 percent from the floor, 39.2 percent on three-point attempts and 78.1 percent from the line during his Junior season with FGCU.

He had the best game of his career as the top-seeded Eagles lost to Lipscomb on their home floor in the Atlantic Sun Championship game. Johnson scored 37 points, made nine of his 13 three-point shots and all eight of his free throws.

He was part of a dynamic Eagles backcourt. He teamed with Brandon Goodwin to combine for 71 points in the loss to Liscomb. Goodwin will take place in the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational later this month. Former Miami Hurricanes Davon Reed and Kamari Murphy took part at Portsmouth in 2017.

Johnson is a huge addition to the Miami Hurricanes basketball roster. He is a high-level scorer who was also considering Arizona, Louisville and Creighton.

Johnson’s addition gives Miami a lot of offensive talent on the perimeter. He will team with returnees Chris Lykes and Dejan Vasiljevic and Mount St. Mary’s transfer Miles Wilson.
