The Miami Hurricanes will seek to continue the momentum they’ve gained with three wins in their last four games when they host Pittsburgh at Mark Light Field this weekend.

The Miami Hurricanes will host Pittsburgh in a three-game ACC Coastal Division series this weekend. Miami enters play against the Panthers with wins in three of their last four games. The Hurricanes won two of three at Clemson last weekend. They added an 8-1 midweek victory over Florida Gulf Coast.

Freshman right-hander Chris McMahon earned the first victory of his collegiate career against the Eagles. The victory improved the Hurricanes to 16-20 overall. They are 9-9 in the ACC.

Pittsburgh travels to Coral Gables 8-10 in the ACC and 19-15 overall. The Panthers lost to Kent State 2-0 on Wednesday night. That was their second loss to the Golden Flashes in nine days. Pitt lost the season series to Kent State 2-0.

The series will feature two of the ACC’s most anemic offenses. The Panthers are last in the ACC with a .239 team batting average. Miami is 11th at .252.

The Hurricanes are a distant last in runs scored in the conference with just 159. Pittsburgh is 14th with 184. By virtually any measure the series will feature two of the worst offenses in the ACC.

The Hurricanes have a far better pitching staff. Miami has a 3.84 team ERA. Pittsburgh allows nearly two-thirds of a run per game more at 4.47.

Frank Maldonado and Liam Sabino lead the Pittsburgh offense. Maldonado is hitting .322 with a .404 on-base percentage. Sabino leads the Panthers in most offensive categories. The Junior infielder is batting .282, with ten doubles, nine home runs, 27 RBIs and .565 slugging percentage and has 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.
