For the third time in as many weeks, Miami Hurricanes defensive end Greg Rousseau dominated during a scrimmage. Rousseau recorded four tackles and a pair of tackles for loss and sacks in the final time on the field for UM this Spring.

Miami Hurricanes Head Coach Mark Richt said earlier this Spring that Rousseau has been the U’s biggest surprise this Spring. Nothing has happened to change that. Playing in a position with great depth, Rousseau is going to force the coaching staff’s hand to give him playing time this fall.

There is a lot of time between now and the September 2 opener, but Rousseau has shown his ability early in his collegiate career. Rousseau ends the Spring with nine sacks in three games. He racked up all of those stats against the Miami Hurricanes second-string offensive line.

Rousseau’s next step will be to prove he can continue to produce against the Hurricanes first-string offensive line and then in games. UM’s first string O-line struggled throughout the Spring and that was without having to face Rousseau.

Can Rousseau continue to dominate when he plays against more experienced and talented players? Richt wondered the same thing. We will find out quickly in September when Miami faces LSU in their season opener.
