Joe Jackson led all of the returnees on the Miami Hurricanes defense and finished second on the team last season with 6.5 sacks. Jackson also led Miami in sacks as a Freshman in 2016. He also leads the returnees on the defensive line and was second last season among D-lineman with 50 tackles.

Demetrius Jackson was off to a great start last season before suffering a season-ending injury after six games. He had 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and an interception in the limited playing time last season.

Garvin tied for the team lead with team MVP Jaquan Johnson last season with two fumble recoveries. He also added nine tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks.

The competition for playing time at defensive end will be fierce for the Miami Hurricanes this fall. It will allow Diaz to keep his ends Fresh and continue to play the attacking up the field style he prefers.

Garvin and Joe Jackson also contributed in the final scrimmage of the Spring. Garvin had two tackles and two sacks and Joe Jackson added one sack.
