Bargfeldt has one of his best outings of the season on Friday night in the Hurricanes loss. He pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts.

A Ron Washington Jr. homerun in the top of the ninth off of Danny Federman gave the Panthers a 2-1 victory. Romy Gonzalez and Isaac Quinoes combined for four of Miami’s seven hits.

Evan McKendry continued to look dominant in the second game of the series. After having a few rough outings in late March and early April, McKendry has returned to being the dominant pitcher he was earlier this season.

He pitched 6.2 innings allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out nine. McKendry took the loss to fall to 5-5 on the season.

In Saturday’s nightcap, Miami needed a dominant performance from Andrew Cabezas to avoid a sweep. Cabezas pitched a complete game shutout while allowing three hits and striking out 11 with no walks.

Injuries have limited the Miami offense for the second straight season. Danny Reyes who got off to a scorching start to the season didn’t return until last weekend after missing six weeks.

Reyes hit his second home run of the season to stretch the Miami lead to 2-0 in the third inning. Michael Burns drove in the Hurricanes first run an inning earlier.
