With the coaches focusing on future Hurricanes, the current players need to take time out and focus on themselves. Spring practice is over and the next four months are a time for the Miami Hurricanes players to work on their academics, physique and improving their skills and techniques. Richt spoke about the expectations

"“The players have to finish school and there’s some discretional time – meaning time that’s not mandatory – during that time when they can come in and work if they want to. But we’re not going to get in the way of exams. We’ve scheduled nothing here for the next couple of weeks. There will be a little bit of time off and then summer school starts. Guys start running, lifting, throwing, catching and getting their academics in order.”"

The team will get back together in late July/early August to start preparing for the season. The beginning of the season is different this year as the Hurricanes begin the season against a Power Five opponent. Miami kicks off the year against LSU in Arlington Stadium on September 2.
