Where is Miami Hurricanes RB Mark Walton Projected in NFL Draft?
Miami Hurricanes Running Back Mark Walton was headed towards a second straight All-ACC season when a lingering ankle injury required season-ending surgery in October. We will find out how the injury impacts his status in the NFL Draft this weekend.
Walton enters the NFL Draft a year early after playing in just four games as a Miami Hurricanes Junior. He missed the majority of his Junior campaign after requiring season-ending ankle surgery. He initially suffered the injury in the Hurricanes second game of the season. It came week four in a victory over Toledo.
Walton is ranked anywhere between 69th and 100 in the overall player rankings for the 2018 NFL Draft. CBSSports.Com has the former Hurricanes star 100th and NFL.Com’s Mike Mayock 86th.
Walton is already skilled as a blocker, receiver and runner. That should help him tremendously with both his draft status and being ready to play in the NFL as a rookie. CBS likes his versatility.
"“Lightning bug scatback with dynamic change-of-direction skills and explosion in the open field. Often hides behind offensive linemen before bursting through a running lane. Small, light frame. Foot quickness is among best in this class.”"
The Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller is the only major prognosticator that has posted a seven round NFL mock draft. Miller projects Walton as the 69th overall pick to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers.
