The Miami Hurricanes travel to Tallahassee with the hopes of avoiding a three-game sweep by Florida State. If the Seminoles accomplish the sweep FSU’s Mike Martin would become the winningest coach in the history of college baseball.

Martin sits two wins behind former Cal State-Fullerton, Texas, Illinois, San Francisco State and Cal Poly Head Coach Augie Garrido. The Miami Hurricanes need to win one game to prevent Martin from setting the record and two from tying it.

Martin is still without the elusive title that Garrido won five times. Garrido won 1,975 games in 48 years. He won three titles at CSUF and two at Texas. Garrido passed away last month at the age of 79 following a stroke.

The trip to the state capital will be the last between Hurricanes Head Coach Jim Morris and Martin. The Hurricanes will hope to duplicate a trip they had to Florida State 20 years ago as Martin was on the precipice of his 1,000th career victory. Martin relayed the story to the Orlando Sentinel.

"“Miami came in here, and said ‘not us,’ and they swept us…So, we just hope we take it Friday first, see what happens, then go play Saturday and so on.”"
